Mistron Forty 18% OD
Nicosulfuron 4.5% + Mesotriation 13.5%
Mistron Forty 18% OD is a selective herbicide formulated as an oil dispersion (OD) that combines two potent active ingredients: Nicosulfuron (4.5%) and Mesotrione (13.5%). This dual-action herbicide is designed to provide broad-spectrum control of weeds in maize (corn) cultivation, targeting both grassy and broadleaf weeds for optimal crop health and productivity.
Mode of Action
- Nicosulfuron (4.5%):
- Belongs to the ALS inhibitor (Acetolactate Synthase) class of herbicides.
- Stops weed growth by disrupting amino acid synthesis.
- Effective against annual and perennial grasses like barnyard grass and Johnson grass.
- Mesotrione (13.5%):
- Belongs to the HPPD inhibitor (4-Hydroxyphenylpyruvate Dioxygenase) class of herbicides.
- Blocks carotenoid biosynthesis, leading to bleaching of weed tissues and eventual death.
- Targets broadleaf weeds like pigweed, lamb’s quarters, and velvetleaf.
Uses and Applications
Target Crops:
- Maize (corn).
Target Weeds:
- Grassy Weeds: Johnson grass, barnyard grass, foxtail species.
- Broadleaf Weeds: Amaranthus spp., lamb’s quarters, common ragweed, velvetleaf.
Application Timing:
- Apply post-emergence when weeds are actively growing and within the recommended growth stage for maize.
Benefits
- Ensures clean fields, free from competition, for healthy maize growth.
- Enhances yield potential by protecting maize from early-season weed interference.
- Reduces the need for multiple herbicide applications, saving time and cost.
